Why we are deprived of beneficial knowledge
As for the (ill) effect of sins in depriving one of beneficial knowledge, then that is well known by text (the Quran), and by fact, as Allah, glorified is He, says:
{And whatever of calamity befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.} [Surah Ash-Shura 42:30]
And there is no doubt that being deprived of beneficial knowledge is from the biggest calamities!

أما أثر المعاصي في الحرمان من العلم النافع فمعلوم بالنص والواقع كما قال الله سبحانه : وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍ[5] ولا ريب أن حرمان العلم النافع من أعظم المصائب
