The Khawarij and the Murji'ah and their calamity upon Islam
And indeed the Shaytaan caused the majority of the people to fall into error with regards to this issue, and so he made a group (the Murjiah) fall short (and be too lax), and as a consequence they gave the ruling of Islam on people who are proven to be disbelievers by the texts of the Book (the Qur'an) and the Sunnah, and the consensus.
And he made another group (the Khawarij) go far beyond (into extreme), and as a consequence they declared people to be disbelievers who are ruled as being Muslims by the Book and the Sunnah together with the consensus.
And thus what a calamity for Islam there is in these two groups! And what a trial for it in these two tribulations!
