Should I remove the tattoo I got before I accepted Islam?
Question:
"I got a tattoo before accepting Islaam and it is of something worshipped before Islaam. Is it an obligation upon me to have this tattoo removed?"
Answer:
"Yes, it is an obligation upon him to have the tattoo removed and more so as it was an object which the people worshipped in Jaahiliyyah. Some people worshipped trees, stones, the sun, the moon and other than that. As a result of this, it is an obligation upon him to have this tattoo removed."
