Regarding those who believe in the theory of evolution

Questioner: "Okay, the first question in regards to the theory of evolution (Shaykh clarifies the question with translator). We have those who believe that Adam had parents, who were something resembling primates (apes)."

Shaykh: "The first thing I say to you is, that this is a false, kufr based belief, opposing what Allah Revealed to His Messengers, (inaudible), ...this is all complete falsehood. Rejected, whosoever believes this is a kaafir."

Questioner: "Okay, what do we say then…"

Shaykh: "Adam is (created from dust! From clay! From smooth sounding clay that is black, that changed in its… (inaudible). From pottery-like clay that has a ring to it. His Lord fashioned him, then breathed into him his soul. Then becoming a living human Hearing, seeing and speaking. And the texts about this, to Allah belong all praise, are unambiguous, clear and very strong, leaving no space whatsoever for any re-interpretation." "Do you have anything to say 'Abdul-'Aleem?"

Questioner: "Yes. This individual who believes in this theory, he is the imam of a large Masjid here."

Shaykh: "A what? Imam?"

Questioner: "An imam in one of the masaajid here. So is it permissible to pray behind him?"

Shaykh: "No, by Allah! Praying behind him is NOT permissible! Praying behind one who has no wudhu is better than praying behind him! A'uthubillah this is terrible news 'Abdul-'Aleem, a disaster! It is obligatory to rebuke sternly those who pray behind him knowing full well what his 'aqeedah is!"
