Ramadān: the month of repentance
Those who sin and fall short should repent to Allāh:
{Say: "O 'Ibādi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allāh, verily Allāh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith to your Lord and submit to Him!} [Sūrah Az-Zumar 39:53-54]
Thus the people who commit sins should not despair of the Mercy of Allāh and instead repent to Allāh, especially in this month. They should repent to Allāh with a sincere and continuous repentance, and not a temporary repentance limited to this month only. But rather a continuous repentance up until death. الشيخ صالح الفوزان حفظه الله: وعلى المذنبين والمقصرين أن يتوبوا إلى الله: {قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ}{وَأَنِيبُوا إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا لَهُ} فأهل الذنوب لا يقنطون من رحمة الله يتوبون إلى الله لا سيما في هذا الشهر يتوبون إلى الله توبة صادقة توبة مستمرة ليست توبة مؤقتة بهذا الشهر فقط وإنما هي توبة مستمرة إلى الممات. هكذا شأن المسلم
