Prayer in congregation during the Covid-19 pandemic
Question:
"This brother says: Is it permissible for the prayer attendees to leave a one or two meter gap to their right and their left in the row during the congregational prayer, in order to protect themselves from this virus?"
Answer:
"Brothers, we have to know that standing in the same row, even with distancing is not the same as praying alone behind the row, because they are in the same row. As such, it is certainly not the same issue. What is left to discuss is that, the default stance is that it is obligatory for those led in prayer to stand close to one another. The majority of the scholars is of the opinion that it is recommended and that separation is disliked. However, what is correct is that it is obligatory (to stand close one to another). Nonetheless, if there's a need, it is permissible for the prayer attendees to practise distancing.
If we have to make a decision between two matters; not to pray in congregation or that based upon knowledge they pray in congregation but keep distance, they should pray in congregation and keep distance and there's absolutely no problem with that. Adhering thereby to the instructions of the ruler for this matter. In these measures, which are for the benefit of the general masses, the matter is tied to the instructions of the ruler."

السؤال
هل يجوز للمصلين أن يجعلوا بينهم مسافة متر أو مترين عن يمينهم شمالهم في الصف في الجماعة وقاية من هذا الوباء !؟
الجواب
ينبغي يا إخوة أن نعلم أن وقوف المصلين في صف واحد و لو كانوا متباعدين ليس من باب صلاة المنفرد خلف الصفّ لأنّهم في صف واحد
إذن هذا ليس من هذه المسألة يقينا
بقي أنّ الأصل أنه يجب تراص المأمومين [ الجمهور يقولون هذا مستحبّ و التفريج مكروه ] لكنّ الصحيح أنّه يَجب
لكن إذا وُجدت الحاجة جاز تباعد المصلّين
فإذا كنّا بين أمرين إمّا أن نقولَ لا يصلّون جماعة
و إمَّا أن نقول على أساس علميّ: يصلون جماعة و يتباعدون.. فإنهم يصلّون جماعة و يتباعدون و لا حرج في هذا
على أنّه يُلتزم بما يوجه به وليّ الأمر في المسألة ففي هذه المصالح العامّة الأمرُ منوطٌ بوليّ الأمر
وقال في موضع آخر موضحا لما سبق من كلامه
إذا كان هناك ضرر غالب من صلاتهم
في المساجد حتى مع التباعد فالأفضل أن يلزموا بيوتهم و لو لم يُلزَموا بهذا
أمّا إذا لم يكن هناك ضرر و لكن أُلزموا بالتباعد ، أو لا يكون هناك ضرر إذا حصل التباعد لمتر أو متر و نصف فإنهم يصلّون في المساجد مع التّباعد
مع لزوم ما يوجه به وليّ الأمر في هذه المسألة انتھ
