On those Who warn against Particular Individuals
Question:
May Allah be good to you, honorable [Shaykh]. There is someone here someone who warns against specific individuals, and when we say to him: “Go and advise him” he answers back, “I am not compelled to advise him”, knowing that he accuses them of al-Hizbiyyah (partisanship) without any evident proof. And he says: “This is my suspicion about him and the one who supports him is a Hizbee (a partisan who calls to partisanship) just like him!”
Is this conduct in agreement with the Islamic Law or in disagreement with it?"
Answer:
“I advise you to acquire knowledge and to leave these matters. Seek knowledge. If you acquire knowledge, then afterwards, you shall know what is right from what is wrong. But that you call people wrong without knowledge and insight simply because of desires or because such and such a person said this and that; leave these matters! Seek knowledge. Do your utmost in acquiring knowledge, being devoted to it and knowing the truth and knowing falsehood. But to judge people without knowledge, just because such and such a person said this and that; this will not bring benefit. Yes.”
