His relative who used to offer sacrifices for other than Allah passed away
Question:
"He says that his relative passed away while he used to offer sacrifices for other than Allah (تعالى), bearing in mind that he lived in a village without any scholars and no means of communication so that he could have benefited and also bearing in mind that he used to guard strictly the obligatory prayers, the nawafil (supererogatory prayers) and qiyam-ul-layl (optional prayer at night)?"
Answer:
"There is not doubt that his action is shirk and that he is a mushrik, if someone used to offer sacrifices for these idols; the awliya' and the righteous people. What is left is the issue of him being excused or not (for ignorance) in front of his Lord. We entrust this affair to Allah (عز وجل). Yes."
