Four reasons why amulets are not permissible even if they contain Qur'ān

And the amulet is something impermissible, even if it contains Qur'ān, for four reasons:

Firstly: That this kind of attachment has not been authentically established from the Prophet ﷺ. And if it was something good, the Messenger of Allāh would have certainly told us about it.

Secondly: Not one of the Salaf (the pious predecessors) after the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ did it.

Thirdly: That the prohibition of amulets is general[1], and includes that which contains Qur'ān and that which contains other than the Qur'ān.

And fourthly: That putting it on, leads to the dishonoring of the Qur'ān, its belittlement, desecration and defilement; for it could be attached to the woman who has her menses, the woman who has her postnatal bleeding and the child which urinates or defecates on it. Apart from what that entails from dishonoring the Qur'ān, then it furthermore gives the impression as if it (the Qur'ān) has been sent down to be an adornment for the people or for the women. And all of this is impermissible. And if it was something good then the Salaf would have done it first and foremost. Therefore we would to like to remind the listeners to fear Allāh, The Mighty and Majestic, and not cause the Qur'ān to be subject to this kind of dishonoring.

[1] It has been reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk!" Reported by Ahmad and classed Sahīh by Shaykh Al-Albānī in As-Silsilah As-Sahīhah.
