An Advice to the Students of Knowledge whose priority is the classification of the Scholars and Du’aat
Question:
"We all ask Allah to grant us success according to the methodology of the rightly guided predecessors however, there exists a group among the students of knowledge whose priority is the classification of the scholars, the Du’aat (the callers), and the righteous. They say, “He is a Hizbee (a partisan who calls to partisanship), he is Mutamayyi’ (someone who is weak in his creedal stance) and he is such and such.” In fact, they have let themselves get into the intentions of many people, by saying, “His intention is this and that.” So what is your advice to these young people?"
Answer:
“Our advice is that they fear Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that they should acquire knowledge. They should devote themselves in acquiring knowledge. They should abandon bad mouthing, slander, backbiting, and those things that cause fighting and separation. Rather they should devote themselves to learning knowledge from the scholars whether this occurs in the mosques or the schools, or at institutes and academies. They should devote themselves in acquiring knowledge. When they acquired knowledge, they shall know to separate the truth from falseness. As for speaking ill about individuals and discussing individuals, this causes corruption and not benefit. This is a case that causes harm not benefit. Neither will it lead to the truth.”
