People being tested with the disease of al-Qeel wal-Qaal and falling into childish behaviour!
From that which falls under taqwa (fear) of Allah is that one has a burning desire for the servants of Allah to be guided. This, by way of spreading authentic knowledge taken from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم). By clarifying them (the servants of Allah) the path of the companions and their successors. By guiding the people to that which the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) guided to in his saying:
“It is part of someone’s correct Islam, that he does not busy himself with that which does not concern him.” [i.e.: that which he has no interest in]
When you see a person striving towards Allah (عز و جل), and busies himself with that which concerns him and does not have any concern except with that which will bring him closer to Allah; know that this falls under someone’s correct Islam!
And when you see a person busy himself with unnecessary things, things which do not concern him, and spends most of his time in al-qeel wal-qaal[1] and asking too many questions; then know that this falls under deficiencies in someone’s Islam!
And this is why the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) prohibited al-qeel wal-qaal and asking too many questions; because it is a waste of time. When a person has this disease, he will waste his time. He will sit in a sitting and say:
“What’s the latest?”
“What did that person say?”
“What did so-and-so say?”
Then he will go to a second sitting and say the same. And then to the third, the fourth, etcetera. Thus he will waste his own time and that of others! It is therefore up to a person to busy himself with that which concerns him and is in his interest.
There is however, no problem with asking a question regarding something that happened or which is taking place in the community whenever there is a need for it. This in order to remove the disease (problem) and not to rejoice over the misfortunes of others! Or to cause splitting and differing, like so many people do nowadays. And some people have good innocent intentions, but this miskeen is tested by this disease and knows only al-qeel wal-qaal; what this person has said, what that person has said, what this group has said and what that group has said! Not because he wants to cure the disease or to remove the splitting but out of malicious pleasure!
Or he will say like small children say:
“Are you with them or them?”
We have seen this partisanship and splitting into groups only with children! I advice you to leave off these matters. Because it does not benefit. Rather it is a waste of time. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) prohibited wasting money, wasting time by way of al-qeel wal-qal and asking too many questions.
