Think about what you are going to say before you say it, and think about what you are going to do before you do it
Think about what you are going to say before you say it, and think about what you are going to do before you do it. If the speech is good, beneficial or permissible, in case of need, then speak, otherwise no; withhold. The Prophet, may Allah send His peace and blessings upon him, says in the authentic hadeeth: "Verily the servant may utter a statement that angers Allah, not examining it carefully," meaning he doesn't verify it, "but Allah will decree that He is angry with him, until the day he meets Him."
And in another wording: "Verily the servant may utter a statement, not examining it carefully, and he will fall because of it into the Fire further than the distance between the East and West."
The affair is therefore dangerous. And the Prophet, may Allah send His peace and blessings upon him, said to Muadh, may Allah be pleased with him: "Oh Muadh, control this…" and pointed to his tongue. He said: "Oh Messenger of Allah, will we be held responsible for what we say with it?" So he, may the peace and blessings be upon him said: "Will the people be thrown into Hell on their faces (or he said on their noses) for anything other than the harvest of their tongues?" Thus it is necessary for the believer, male and female, to be cautious and watchful with regards to speech or action that can harm you. {So, by your Lord} He, the Perfect says:
{So, by your Lord (Oh Muhammad, may the peace and blessings be upon him), We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do.} [Surah Al-Hijr 15:92-93]
