Shirk is worse than marrying one's own mother
Shaykh-ul-Islam Muhammad bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab رحمه الله said:
"The prohibition of Shirk and believing in Taghut (everything that is worshipped besides Allah) is far more severe than the prohibition of marrying one's own mother or grandmother."
