Ruling on visiting and keeping ties with the family if they openly display sins and mock something of the Religion?
Question:
"What is the ruling on visiting and keeping ties with the family if they openly display sins and mock something of the religion?"
Answer:
"He should advise them and visit them in order to advise. They are the most deserving people of your goodness and kindness. You should call them to Allāh and advise them, order them to do good and prohibit them from committing evil. Allāh, Exalted is He, said to His Prophet (may Allāh send peace and blessings upon him):
{And warn your tribe (O Muhammad, may Allāh send peace and blessings upon him) of near kindred.} [Sūrah Ash-Shu'arā' 26:214]
They are the most deserving people of your advice. You should visit them and advise them. But that you remain silent, then no. If you go there, remain silent and sit with them you will share them in the sin. However it should be done in form of advice, invitation (to the truth) and offering guidance, with kindness and gentleness."
